Gold prices jump over Dh15 per gram to another record high, could touch Dh600 soon

Gold prices in Dubai continued their strong upward trend, opening sharply higher and extending a rally that has captured the attention of investors and consumers alike. The local market has now recorded multiple consecutive record highs, reflecting growing global demand for hard assets amid ongoing economic uncertainty.

Jewellery retailers and traders reported a noticeably firmer opening, with prices jumping significantly compared to the previous session. The surge comes as international gold markets maintain strong momentum, supported by heightened global risk sentiment and shifting investor preferences toward tangible stores of value.

Market participants note that gold’s appeal has strengthened as investors reassess traditional financial assets. With rising concerns around global stability and long-term confidence in major currencies, precious metals are increasingly viewed as a hedge rather than a short-term trade. This trend has translated quickly into higher local prices across all purity categories.

Analysts suggest that current price movements are not driven by a single event, but by a broader environment that has been building for months. Increased demand from institutional investors, combined with steady physical buying, has created a strong foundation for sustained price strength. As a result, even brief pullbacks have been met with renewed buying interest.

Global gold markets have also played a key role in shaping sentiment in the UAE. International prices moved to fresh territory during early trading hours, reinforcing expectations that the metal could remain elevated in the near term. Commentary from commodity strategists indicates that confidence in gold is being reinforced as some traditional safe-haven instruments show weaker performance than usual.

Toward the latter part of the trading session, attention shifted to price projections and potential psychological levels. In Dubai, 24K gold opened higher by more than Dh15 per gram, reaching Dh586.25 per gram. Other categories also recorded gains, with 22K rising to Dh542.75 per gram, 21K to Dh520.5 per gram, 18K to Dh446.25 per gram, and 14K to Dh348 per gram.

Globally, spot gold moved beyond the $4,800 mark for the first time, trading near $4,870 per ounce during morning hours in the UAE. Some analysts believe that if current momentum holds, Dubai gold prices could approach the Dh600 per gram level in the near future, especially if global demand for precious metals continues to strengthen.

For buyers and investors in the UAE, the latest surge highlights gold’s ongoing role as both a cultural asset and a financial refuge. While short-term volatility remains possible, the broader outlook suggests that gold is firmly positioned at the centre of current market attention.
